9 Carnivore Friendly Diet Snacks

When you’re working or spending time with friends and family, it’s always good to have snacks on hand. But most snacks contain tons of sugar, vegetable oil, and gluten, which can lead to diabetes, chronic inflammation, and gut issues. 

So what should us carnivores eat between meals if we’re feeling hungry and bored? Introducing carnivore-friendly snacks! And what are the best carnivore-friendly snacks we can nibble on between meals?

But First, What Qualifies As A Carnivore-Friendly Snack?

A carnivore-friendly snack is anything that’s bite-sized and doesn’t contain any inflammation-causing toxins like vegetable oil, gluten, and sugar. Also, it cannot have any plant products like cocoa, xylitol, and wheat.

Carnivore-friendly snacks must contain 100% animal products. Now you might be thinking, “where will I find snacks that contain 100% animal products? Isn’t that impossible?” While most snacks contain lots of junk, some are carnivore-friendly. 

But something that many carnivores overlook is at what time they snack. Snacking at the wrong times can affect your sleep and hunger cycle leading to poor sleep and feelings of hunger all the time.

What Time Of The Day Should I Snack?

A simple rule to follow is to avoid snacking 2 hours before meals and sleep. 

If you regularly snack before meals, you won’t feel hungry when it’s lunch or supper. This results in you eating less and feeling hungry earlier than normal. It’s easy to see how this can mess up your eating cycle. 

Also, avoid snacking before bed. I used to have sleeping problems for years. I’d wake up several times during the night, and when it’s time for school or work, I’d feel like I never slept in the first place. But I came across an article on how eating before bed disrupts your sleep, and I stopped. This resulted in me sleeping like a baby and waking up with a ton of energy.

If you have sleeping problems and you’re eating before bed, stop for a week and see if your sleep improves. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s go through some carnivore-friendly snacks.

1. Beef Jerky

Beef jerky is a slice of lean, trimmed meat cut into small strips and dried, so it doesn’t spoil. Normally, manufacturers will add salt to prevent the growth of bacteria before the meat has finished drying.

Beef jerky is delicious, and you can take it anywhere with you, which allows for easy access.

But watch out for beef jerky that contains hidden sugar and other additives. You want a brand of beef jerky that has nothing other than meat and salt.

This is also great for when you’re hungry between meals and need something light to snack on. Simply whip this bad boy out and snack on.

2. Salami And Cheese Bites

Salami and cheese bites are my personal favorite not only because they’re delicious, but they’re super fun to make.

It’s the perfect carnivore-friendly snack. All you need is salami, cheese sticks, and a toothpick. Cut up your cheese sticks and wrap pieces of salami around them. You can eat it just like this or put it in an air fryer for a few minutes.

This results in a delicious little snack, and you can nibble on it anytime you feel hungry.

3. Bacon

Who said bacon is only reserved for meals? Feel free to fry up some bacon in between meals if you feel hungry.

Bacon is also super nutritious and healthy. Bacon contains;

  • Selenium
  • Phosphorus
  • Iron
  • Zinc
  • Magnesium
  • And a ton of B vitamins.

Bacon also contains a ton of fat. Every 100 grams of bacon contains 42 grams of fat. This is good news for people who are starting a carnivore diet because it gets you into ketosis quickly.

4. Sardines

Sardines are superfoods because they’re not only packed full of nutrients, but they live short lives, which means they have less mercury contamination than other fish like swordfish and mackerel.

They’re also small, which makes for a great bite-sized snack.

85 grams of sardines contains;

  • 12 grams of fat
  • 22 grams of protein
  • And 1700mg Omega-3.

Sardines are also packed full of B vitamins. But be careful not to buy sardines in any type of oil. Usually, manufacturers will store them in sunflower oil, cottonseed oil, or even olive oil, which isn’t as bad as the first two, but for us carnivores, it’s off-limits.

Instead, opt for wild sardines stored in water. These are healthier since it won’t trigger inflammation, which is the root of all diseases

5. Bone Broth

Bone broth is a nutritious drink that you can drink anywhere. On your way to work, while working, or spending time with friends or family. It’s a carnivore’s latte. 

Bone broth consists of plenty of connective tissues that you don’t usually eat and nutrients you don’t normally get. These nutrients include;

  • Collagen
  • Thiamine
  • Phosphorus
  • And vitamin E.

Consuming significant amounts of these nutrients in a bioavailable form isn’t easy, but by drinking bone broth, you’ll get all these nutrients and more.

I must admit, making bone broth is a hassle since you must get a bunch of bones together and cook it for 10 to 12 hours. But once it’s made, you can separate it into cups and put it in your fridge. Whenever you feel like snacking, simply whip out your carnivore latte and start sipping.

6. Tuna

A few years ago, when I started the carnivore diet and desperately wanted to build muscle and lose fat, I carried a couple of tins of tuna with me almost everywhere. Tuna has a ton of protein and Omega 3 fatty acids, which makes it great for building muscle.

It’s also cheap since you can get a can of tuna for only one dollar. And if you buy in bulk, you can get in for under a dollar.

But what benefits does tuna offer me?

Tuna is packed full of vitamin B12, which is an essential vitamin needed to make DNA. It also helps create new blood cells, which prevent the development of anemia.

It also contains tons of omega 3 fatty acids, which lowers inflammatory omega 6.

If you’re going somewhere, take a few of these bad boys with you and snack on them when you’re hungry.

7. Boiled Eggs

Just like bacon, eggs aren’t exclusively used in meals. Boiled eggs are small and convenient to make, making them perfect for snacking on in between meals.

Simply throw a few eggs in a pot, boil them for five minutes, take off the peel, and snack away.

Eggs are another one of those undercover superfoods. Everyone has them in their kitchen, but nobody thinks of them as superfoods. But they have more nutrients than kale, broccoli, and quinoa combined. Some nutrients that are found in eggs include;

  • Iodine 
  • Selenium
  • Vitamin B12
  • And vitamin D

They’re nature’s multivitamin!

8. Pepperoni Chips

Once you’ve snacked on pepperoni chips, you’ll never want to go back to processed chips again.

Simply toss a few pepperoni’s in the oven until it’s crisp. Take them out, let them cool down, and enjoy. What I like about pepperoni crisps is that it’s super convenient to make. It only takes around 15 minutes to bake, and you can take some with you to work, school, or simply nibble on it when you’re home. 

9. Meat Sticks

Meat sticks are super healthy and delicious snacks you can find in any grocery store or health shop. If you can afford it, buy meat sticks at health shops since they are healthier and rarely contain toxic additives like sugar and gluten.

Most stores also sell meat sticks in bulk. If you snack on a lot of meat sticks, consider buying in bulk and storing it at home. Whenever you’re hungry, get some meat sticks and snack away.


Eating a carnivore diet doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy snacking between meals. There are plenty of snacks that contain no sugar and other added junk. So if you’re feeling hungry, grab any one of these snacks as they’re nutritious and delicious.
