Can A Carnivore Diet Improve Sex Life?

The low carb diet, all-meat diet, and the keto diet is getting more attention and popularity over the past few years. Most of you would be wondering how does it impact various accepts such as weight loss, pregnancy, diabetes, and even one’s sex drive.

Many testimonials on the carnivore diet have experienced a dip in libido during the initial stage, followed by a surge in their sex drive after three weeks of the carnivore diet. Although there is not enough evidence to supports this, high-fat diets are linked to increased sex hormones; this increases sexual desire.

This article discusses few unique health benefits of the carnivore diet, which ultimately enhances your sex life.

Carnivore Diet and Sex Life

The carnivore diet, which involves eating high-fat foods and zero carbs to achieve maximum weight loss, is gaining massive acceptance across the globe. Many are curious about the advantages, long-term efficacy, and side effects of the carnivore diet on the body.

Experts suggest that a low-carb diet existed for ages; it has gained popularity because, with a carnivore diet, you can lose weight fast in a healthier way.  In a low carb diet or a carnivore diet, 60-80% of your calories come from fat, 15-30% from protein. Also, there is a strict no to carbs.

You might have read the reviews and testimonials in which people have mentioned that there was an initial dip in sexual desire. There was remarkable improvement in libido after they followed the carnivore diet in the long term.

The initial dip may be due to the drastic changes that our body is undergoing, from a carb diet to a zero carb diet; you may experience tiredness, nausea, digestion problems, and constipation. Due to this, there would be an initial dip in sexual desire.

You can observe a substantial increase in sex drive once the body gets accustomed to the carnivore diet. These studies suggest that an increased amount of fat consumption increases estrogen and testosterone, which increases sexual desire and helps in good sex life. Testosterones are a steroid hormone derived from cholesterol. The carnivore diet is all about eating fat which is cholesterol; hence it increases testosterone levels.

It’s important to understand that adding fat to your diet is different from a carnivore diet. Carnivore diet makes you healthy, fit, helps you in weight reduction, reduces the risk associated with health issues such as cardiac problems, diabetes, and obesity.

Carnivore Diet, Obesity, and Testosterone

Obesity is one of the rising concerns for low testosterone levels in men. In moderate obese men, we can also observe decreased testosterone levels. It can be due to insulin resistance or the inability of sex hormone-binding to globulin. In case of severe obesity, we also observe low testosterone levels and other metabolic complications.

Due to obesity and being overweight, there are increasing reproductive problems. This is leading to increased infertility and PCOS problems in women.

When you are on a carnivore diet, it will help you reduce weight and has all the essential nutrients and vitamins to keep you healthy.  It is an excellent diet that helps to improve your fertility and increases your sexual desire.

Carnivore Diet, Diabetes, and Sex life

Diabetes is linked with lower rates of fertility and reduced sexual desire. This might be due to several health problems related to diabetes such as obesity, being underweight, PCOS, cardiovascular diseases, and autoimmune diseases.

Low libido is a real problem that affects people with diabetes more than those without. People who have been diagnosed with diabetes normally experience low sexual desire and erection problems. Sometimes due to low libido, people suffer from depression; antidepressants can also lower sexual desire.

According to the American Diabetes Association, it is recommended to reduce the overall intake of carbs. It was observed that reducing carbs for individuals with diabetes helped in improving glycemia and obesity issues. The carnivore diet is a low-carb diet that helps to improve your diabetes symptoms, libido, and sexual desires.

Carnivore Diet and Sex Hormones

It might be surprising to know that dietary fat intake and sex hormones are linked strongly.

1. High-Fat Diets Increase Estrogen Levels

According to a study, women with a low-fat diet had observed a reduction in estrogen levels; with high-fat diets, it was observed that there was a significant rise in estrogen levels. Low estrogen levels lead to low sex drive and other symptoms such as dryness in the vagina, sleep disturbances, and mood swings.

2. Low-Fat Diets Lead to Decreases in Estradiol and Testosterone

During the menopause stage, women observe a significant drop in hormones such as estradiol and testosterone. Estradiol hormone plays a crucial role in fat distribution and sexual desire in women. Although testosterone is a male hormone, it is equally important for women too. It helps in estrogen production, impacts libido, and allows the muscle to be strong.

Sex hormones reduce as you age; you might be increasing the process by going for a low-fat diet. Carnivore diet, which is high in fat, helps you stay fit and healthy with improved sex life.

3. Carnivore Diet can Improve Testosterone Levels in Men

When the testosterone hormones drop down in men, it can lead to low sex drive, erectile dysfunction, drop in energy levels, muscle mass, and hair loss.  Low testosterone levels can also cause weight gain in men around the chest area, leading to gynecomastia (man boobs).

In a study of people, 40% of energy as fat was replaced with a low-fat diet for 6 weeks. It was found that there was a reduction in serum concentrations of androstenedione, testosterone, and free testosterone. The study also suggested that increasing fat intake gradually increases the serum concentrations of androstenedione, testosterone, and free testosterone.

According to a study, in a low-fat and high-fiber diet, the testosterone levels drop by 12%.  However, with a high-fat diet, the testosterone levels increase by 13%.

Hence we can understand the importance of dietary fat and its role on sex hormones and libido. In a carnivore diet, wherein you eat more fat and fat acts a fuel for your energy. The beauty of the carnivore diet is you lose weight while eating more fat and continue to stay healthy.

4. Trans Fat can Reduce Libido in  Men and Women

It is essential to know which fat is good. Studies have suggested that monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats help improve your libido, while trans fats found in fried foods reduce libido.

Trans fats can lead to abnormal sperm production in men and, in women, it can cause trouble with gestation. In a carnivore diet, you would be avoiding all the processed, fried foods; hence it’s gonna be a very healthy way of improving your libido.

Final words

Carnivore diet regulates your hormone and helps to manage weight. Thus it enhances your overall health resulting in improved sex life. It also has many added advantages that make you feel confident with an increased sex drive.

If you add physical activities such as exercise, yoga, and meditation with the carnivore diet, it can be the best choice for a healthy lifestyle.
